Emily Chan

Hong Kong, China

Médecins Sans Frontières

"You might not be able to change the life of a whole population, but you can make an impact on individual people's lives."

Médecins Sans Frontières

"Every human life has an equal value and should be respected irrespective of gender, race, religion and political affiliation."

Unwilling to face a life of laboratory research, Dr Emily Chan switched from Biomedical engineering to public health disaster management when she was studying in the United States. She then joined Médecins Sans Frontières and has worked in many countries.

Now 30, Dr Chan is the youngest president of an MSF section.
