Ships

Rolling revision of the WHO Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality

Water safety on ships is included in the plan of work of the rolling revision of the WHO Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality.

Background

The issue of water on ships which is covered briefly in chapter 6 of the Third Edition of the Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality, is of considerable international interest. The International Health Regulations were revised in2005. Drinking-water is addressed in the Guide to Ship Sanitation which is in revision at present.

Expected end-product(s)

Stand-alone document for publication in 2007.

Progress to date

An initial draft of the Guide to Ship Sanitation was completed, and peer-review comments have been provided, and incorporated.

The draft document is now available for public domain review. Comments are welcome following the format on the comment sheet, below.
