Work in progress and drafts for the ongoing revision of the guidelines

Mercury

Background

The Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality Final Task Force meeting (Geneva, 2003) recommended that newly published WHO reports (e.g., CICADs, EHCs, JMPR, JECFA) be reviewed to determine if their conclusions have any effect on Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality Guideline values. JECFA derived a new PTWI for mercury in June 2003, and a CICAD on human health aspects of elemental mercury and inorganic mercury compounds was published in 2003.
