The WHO Global Database on Vitamin A was developed by the Evidence and Programme Guidance Unit of the Department of Nutrition for Health and Development under the coordination of Bruno de Benoist with the technical support of Lisa Rogers, Erin McLean, Ines Egli, Maria Andersson and Ann-Beth Moller. Grace Rob assisted in data management and Ron Valerio participated in database design. The database also benefitted from the contributions of Francesco Branca, Tommaso Cavalli Sforza, Wilma Freire, Rukhsana Haider, Aileen Robertson and Aristide Sagbohan.
WHO wishes to thank the numerous individuals, institutions, governments, nongovernmental and international organizations for providing data. Without continual international collaboration in keeping the database up-to-date, this compilation on the global situation and trends in vitamin A prevalence would not be possible. Special thanks are due to ministries of health of WHO Member States, and to the WHO regional and country offices.
WHO also wishes to thank Micronutrient Initiative (MI), SIGHT AND LIFE and UNICEF for their financial support.
