Collective violence includes violent conflicts between nations and groups, state and group terrorism, rape as a weapon of war, the movement of large numbers of people displaced from their homes, and gang warfare. In 2011, the WHO Global Burden of Disease project estimated that 6.3% – or 86 307 – of all deaths due to violence were directly due to war and civil conflict.
