WHO hosts consultation to develop global network for child injury prevention
On 13 March WHO held a consultation to plan establishment of a global network for child injury prevention.
Participants included stakeholders from WHO, UNICEF, NGO's and academia involved in child injury prevention.
The consultation was held in response to a request to WHO through a World Health Assembly resolution to establish a network to better coordinate efforts for child injury prevention in low- and middle-income countries.
The discussions were fruitful and led to some important consensus around the goals for this network and its modalities of operation. The network is scheduled to be launched in late 2013.
