IRTAD-OISEVI meeting held on improving data for road safety
From 11-12 November, PAHO/WHO and the Ibero-American Road Safety Observatory (OISEVI) hosted a workshop entitled "Better Safety Data for Better Road Safety Outcomes" in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The workshop was based on the publication Data systems: a road safety manual for decision-makers and practitioners and accompanying training package developed by the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The 1.5 day workshop included lectures, discussion sessions, and working groups. The objective was to strengthen and build the capacity of participants by highlighting the components required to build a successful road safety data system.
Participants shared experiences in developing and enhancing such systems. A total of 82 participants convened from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Cuba, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Paraguay and Uruguay.
