Third Global Meeting of NGOs for Road Safety and Road Traffic Injury Victims hosted in Turkey
The Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety, with support from the International Police Association in Turkey and a number of other partners, hosted the Third Global Meeting of NGOs for Road Safety and Road Traffic Injury Victims on 3-4 April in Antalya, Turkey.
Nearly 100 people attended from organizations in nearly 50 countries around the world, including NGOs and international organizations such as the FIA Foundation, Global New Car Assessment Programme, Global Road Safety Partnership, World Bank and WHO.
Participants shared good practices in road safety; built skills in advocacy, fundraising, social media, support to victims and evaluation; identified collaborative action ahead of the Second UN Global Road Safety Week; and held a first General Assembly of the Alliance.
The Global Road Safety Fund announced a contribution to the Alliance of US$ 100, 000 to provide 40 small grants to NGOs in developing countries to support their preparations for the Second UN Global Road Safety Week, the next milestone event on the calendar of the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020.
