International and regional child safety organizations

There are a number of international and regional organizations working in the area of child injury prevention. A sample of these include:

United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)

UNICEF is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. UNICEF has the global authority to influence decision-makers, and a variety of partners at grassroots level to turn the most innovative ideas into reality.

International Society for Child and Adolescent Injury Prevention (ISCAIP)

ISCAIP provides a multidisciplinary forum for global dialogue, assists in providing advocacy at national and international levels, fosters national and international injury prevention initiatives, stimulates the translation of research findings into programs and policies, facilitate collaborative and interdisciplinary international research.

International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN)

A non-governmental organization seeking to support individuals and organizations working to protect children from abuse and neglect worldwide.

SAFE KIDS Worldwide

Safe Kids Worldwide is a global network of organizations dedicated to the prevention of unintentional childhood injury. Safe Kids brings together public health experts, global corporations, foundations and government organizations to create new child safety initiatives and support existing ones in countries.

The Alliance for Safe Children (TASC)

The Alliance for Safe Children is focused on reducing child death and disability rates from injury throughout the developing world. Their major focus is in the countries in the South-east Asia region where they have offices in VietNam and Thailand. Currently projects are being conducted in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and VietNam

The European Child Safety Alliance

The European Child Safety Alliance is an initiative of the European Consumer Safety Association (ECOSA) to advance child injury prevention throughout Europe. The mission of the Alliance is to enhance the quality of children's lives through the power of reason, solidarity and compassion.

The Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Southern Africa (CAPFSA)

The Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Southern Africa (CAPFSA) promotes optimal health and development of all children, via its Childsafe programme. CAPFSA aims to reduce intentional and unintentional injuries of all severity through research, education, environmental change and recommendations for legislation. To achieve this CAPFSA works in co-operation with government, industry, non-governmental and community based organization, community groups and individuals.
