The Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium – ITM
The Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium (ITM) is one of the world's leading institutes for training, research and service delivery in tropical medicine and health care in developing countries. WHO collaborates with the ITM in the context of diagnosis and treatment, epidemiology and the development of integrated decision support systems. The major achievements of the Institute have been the development and production of the CATT as a screening serological test and the development of an agglutination test for sleeping sickness stage determination.
The Parasite Diagnostics Unit in the Department of Parasitology of the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp is recognized as WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training on human African trypanosomiasis diagnostics.
