Human African trypanosomiasis

The International Atomic Energy Agency – IAEA

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is an independent international organization related to the United Nations system. It was set up as the "Atoms for Peace" organization in 1957 to promote safe, secure and peaceful nuclear technologies. The development of the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) by means of male radiation of laboratory reared tsetse flies and their release has prompted IAEA interest in African trypanosomiasis since control of the disease can be achieved by eliminating the vector.
