The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation support the development of the critical tools needed to eliminate HAT, including improved drugs, diagnostics and vector control strategies. The investments include support to the Consortium for Treatment of Sleeping Sickness and Leishmaniasis led by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (NC, USA), the Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative and the University of Glasgow to develop safe, effective, and practical drugs. They are also supporting the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics to research and develop novel rapid-diagnostic tests for HAT.
