Event description: RCF celebrated WNTD for the second year as a month-long event; and this year entirely in collaboration with various agencies through 12 activities in all. Significantly, a district (Jhunjhunu) celebrated WNTD for the first time in Rajasthan through the strong support of the District Collector, Mr. B.S.Detha, and took initiatives to develop human resource in tobacco control and to establish tobacco cessation services locally. A Divisional Commissioner, Mr. Rajendra Bhanawat, effectively banned sale of tobacco products in a radius of 100 yards of all educational institutions in all five districts of Jaipur division. Also, the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare (SIHFW) through its maiden celebration of WNTD resolved to facilitate the State-level initiative for policy planners towards an effective tobacco control in State. The State UNICEF office encouraged to advocate tobacco control in pregnant women for a safer motherhood.
