Planning for country level action
MDR-TB survivor returns to her family, Lesotho
In support of the Beijing meeting's aims, planning tools are being developed to help countries scale up their MDR-TB control efforts.
The tools are based on the six elements of the Stop TB Strategy, including prevention and programmatic management of M/XDR-TB, and will help countries identify their gaps and needs, and guide their public health response based on cost-effectiveness and priority criteria.
Moreover, brief background papers are being written which identify the main bottlenecks to responding to the threat of drug resistance, and will assist in the design, planning and implementation of national responses.
