Eliminating the Catastrophic Economic Burden of TB: Universal Health Coverage and Social Protection Opportunities
A consultation to inform the post-2015 TB Strategy and action at national level

Diverse stakeholders from high TB- burden countries, multilateral and bilateral agencies, civil society organizations, researchers, and technical experts met in São Paulo, Brazil, from 29 April to 1 May 2013 as part of a WHO consultation on eliminating the catastrophic economic burden of TB. This consultation titled "Eliminating the Catastrophic Economic Burden of TB: Universal Health Coverage and Social Protection Opportunities" was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Brazil.
The purpose of this consultation was to discuss and contribute to the development of a draft post-2015 TB Strategy and to stimulate collaborative action at country level to eliminate catastrophic direct and indirect costs of TB care for TB patients and their families.
