SDI works with public health institutions in:

Setting quality standards for diagnostics evaluations
Capacity building: GLP/GCP and data management workshops for evaluation sites
Establishing specimen banks to facilitate diagnostic development
Developing projects to increase knowledge of specimen heterogeneity and disease progression

SDI works with partners in academia to:

Develop mathematiocal models to assess the cost-effectiveness and impact of using rapid diagnostics in different settings
Explore the use of novel diagnostic targets through genomics, proteomics, and knowledge of pathogenesis

Stimulating industry efforts by:

identifying obstacles to test development
funding novel diagnostic target discovery through genomics and proteomics
conducting market surveys

Facilitating industry efforts by:

using mathematical models to estimate required test performance
developing specimen banks
harmonizing regulatory requirements
setting quality standards for diagnostics evaluations
