Urban health equity assessment and response tool (Urban HEART) (2008)
Urban HEART is a tool intended to give policy-makers and key stakeholders at national and local levels a user-friendly guide to assess and respond to urban health inequities. It has been developed by the WHO Kobe Centre in partnership with WHO regional offices. The tool is currently being pilot-tested in several countries including Brazil, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Mexico, Mongolia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Vietnam and Zambia.
EMRO Training Manual for Healthy City Programme (2007)
The aim of this manual is to orientate and guide master trainers in each country, and to train national and local healthy city coordinators, committee members, local partners, nongovernmental organizations, stakeholders and key personnel involved in healthy settings on practical ways and procedures for the effective implementation of the programme. The healthy city programme, which adopts innovative approaches to health and development, is being implemented in a number of countries in the Eastern Mediterranean Region and has achieved considerable success despite the fact that many of the countries’ national teams and authorities involved in the implementation and management of the programme have received no formal training.
EMRO training manual for community-based initiatives - a practical tool for trainers and trainees (2006)
This training manual has been prepared for the communities involved in the implementation of community-based initiatives (CBI) in the member countries of the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region. It will assist in programme implementation and in capacity-building of communities. It will enable communities to identify and prioritize their needs and will help partners to develop more effective interaction and coordination by facilitating effective implementation of various development activities. This manual is designed to cope with the training needs of the programme management at all levels, and the technical teams from the concerned sectors.
London Health Observatory: health inequalities intervention tool (2008)
Produced by the Association of Public Health Observatories in partnership with the English Department of Health. Led by the London Health Observatory, the tool was designed to assist local partner agencies in planning and commissioning. It provides local information on causes of gaps in life expectancy, both within and between areas, and enables users to model the impact of four interventions on reducing the gap using different scenarios.
