Selection of medicines in emergencies
Guidelines for medicine donations
UN agencies and international and nongovernmental organizations are increasingly called upon to respond to large-scale emergencies to prevent and manage serious threats to the survival and health of the affected populations. Guidelines for medicine donations in emergencies have been developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) in cooperation with major international agencies active in humanitarian relief. The Guidelines for Drug Donations was updated in 2010.
Interagency emergency health kit
Since 1990, the supply of medicines and medical devices by relief agencies has been standardized and endorsed by international and non-governmental organizations. This approach allows efficient and effective responses with pre-packed kits to meet priority health needs in emergencies.
The Interagency Emegency Health Kit 2011 is now avalailable in English, French and Spanish.
