National plans for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020
In the context of the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020, governments around the world have been encouraged to develop national plans for the Decade, as a complement to any current national road safety strategy which may be in place. Ideally, national Decade plans should be in line with the Global Plan, although should be tailored to the specific road safety situation in the country.
A number of governments already have national plans for the Decade, while others are in the process of developing them. Some cover the full ten-year period, while a few address shorter time frames. Some reflect activities on all five pillars of the Global Plan, while others may focus on just one or two pillars. Still others reflect work in areas beyond the five pillars. Below are examples of a select number of national plans for the Decade which have been prepared. By posting them here, it is hoped that they will serve as an inspiration for others which may be developed.
If you are a national Decade focal point, or a representative of a government ministry, and would like to share your government’s national plan for the Decade, please contact the Decade Secretariat.
