Structure and governance
The Department of Reproductive Health and Research enjoys a unique structure within WHO. It combines the UNDP/UNICEF/UNFPA/WHO/World Bank Special Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction (HRP) with a Programme Development in Reproductive Health (PDRH) component. This combination is highly effective in ensuring high-quality, independent and targeted research is translated into tanglible tools and recommendations for countries aiming to address issues of sexual and reproductive ill-health. The PDRH component is governed by the World Health Assembly which is the decision-making body for WHO and HRP is governed by its Policy and Coordination Committee.
