White Ribbon Alliance joins PMNCH Board

30 AUGUST 2012 | GENEVA - The PMNCH Board is pleased to announce a new member which will represent the Constituency of Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs). The White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood (WRA) will join the Board at its next meeting scheduled for 15-16 October 2012 in Abuja, Nigeria. The WRA will be represented by its president Theresa Shaver.

The White Ribbon Alliance replaces long-time serving NGO constituency member, Health Alliance International. The White Ribbon Alliance is well-known for its international advocacy work in the field of maternal, reproductive and newborn child health.

“It is with great excitement that we welcome WRA to the PMNCH Board,” said PMNCH Director Carole Presern. “WRA has been an active participant in the Partnership for many years already, and we look forward to their leadership, commitment and expertise at the Board to our strategic plan and governance.”

Theresa Shaver serves as President of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood (WRA) Global Secretariat. A nurse-midwife with over 30 years of experience in maternal and reproductive health, Ms Shaver has also worked throughout Africa, Asia and the South Pacific, and has extensive international experience in community mobilization, capacity building, and advocacy.
