WHO to launch new guidance on human rights and contraception

WHO will launch a new guidance on human rights and contraception at the Palais des Nations during a UN Human Rights side event on Ensuring human rights in the provision of contraceptive information and services.
At the event which is hosted by the World Health Organization, the Permanent Missions of Denmark, Netherlands, and Uruguay, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and UNFPA, speakers will discuss guiding principles, approaches and tools for ensuring human rights in the provision of contraceptive information and services.
Speakers will also will share recommendations for policy-makers, managers, providers and other stakeholders in the health sector on some of the priority actions needed to ensure that different human rights dimensions are systematically and clearly integrated into the provision of contraceptive information and services.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr Flavia Bustreo, Assistant Director-General for WHO and will feature interventions from:

Ensuring human rights in the provision of contraceptive information and services event will take place on Thursday 6 March 2014, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in Room XXIV, Palais des Nations
