Experts meet on value for money of health investments in Africa

The African Development Bank, in collaboration with partners of the Harmonization for Health in Africa (HHA) mechanism has convened an expert meeting on capacity building for the implementation of the Tunis Declaration on value for money, sustainability and accountability in the health sector in Africa. The meeting gathered senior decision-makers and experts from African ministries of finance and health, partner organizations, parliamentary network, academia and country. The purpose of the meeting was to outline the focus and content of a capacity building program for implementing the Tunis Declaration that will be rolled out through regional and country events and activities in 2013. The first presentation of the meeting was delivered by Professor Zulfiqar Bhutta, Aga Khan University (AKU) and highlighted high-impact interventions to improve women’s and children’s health identified by a joint PMNCH/WHO/AKU review of essential interventions and commodities for reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH).
