19 FEBRUARY 2013 | BARCELONA – A new document has been released by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) which summarizes the most significant scientific evidence on IPTp – a preventative treatment for malaria during pregnancy.

An estimated 25 million pregnancies are exposed every year to Plasmodium falciparum malaria. The Intermittent Preventive Treatment during pregnancy (IPTp) is a cost-effective intervention that can prevent maternal mortality and can reduce neonatal mortality by more than 60 percent. This document summarizes significant scientific evidence on IPTp.
