14 MAY 2012 | As partners for reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health continue to tackle ongoing challenges around the world, Mother’s Day provides an excellent occasion to stop and celebrate recent successes in this field and highlight all the inspiring work in progress.

MHTF shares 10 reasons to celebrate the health of moms
The Maternal Health Task Force (MHTF) at the Harvard School of Public Health took the occasion of Mother’s Day to highlight 10 exciting developments in the field of maternal health over the past year, including the MHTF–PLoS Collection on Maternal Health. This three-year collaboration between MHTF and PLoS is tackling a different focus each year, with quality of maternal health care as the theme in 2012.
WRA-India: Singing praises for safe motherhood
To mark Mother's Day this year, the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, India organized a web-launch of a special song on safe motherhood composed by renowned classical singer Shubha Mudgal. Shubha Mudgal specially composed the single "Aakhir Kyon: An Ode to Safe Motherhood" dedicated to all pregnant mothers for their well-being.
Save the Children releases State of the World’s Mothers report
In the lead up to Mother’s Day, Save the Children released its annual State of the World’s Mothers Report for 2012, once again drawing the world’s attention to the best and worst places to be a mom.
Safe Motherhood Day observed in Bangladesh
28 MAY 2012 | SIRAJGANJ, BANGLADESH — As part of celebrations taking place around Bangladesh marking Safe Motherhood Day 2012, a colorful rally was held in front of the office of the civil surgeon in Sirajganj attended by PMNCH members such as Family Health Development Organization (FHDO), CARE-Bangladesh, and BRAC. Speakers at the rally included Sirajganj Civil Surgeon Dr. Nazim Uddin Khan, Additional Police Super Mokter Hossain, Senior Health Education Officer Rafiqul Islam, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Laila Akhter, Executive Director of FHDO Kohinoor Begum, and Coordinator of NGOs Jahangir Alom Raton.
