G8 Watch 2012

19 APRIL 2012 – Leaders from around the world gathered at US President Barack Obama's Camp David retreat in the mountains of Maryland for the 38th meeting of the Group of Eight (G8). Founded in 1975, the G8 has served in recent years as a forum for world leaders to discuss critical issues affecting the global community, including concerns about the global economy, global security and global health. The G8 comprises Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Russian Federation, the UK, and the US.

In June 2012, the world’s 20 major economies will meet in Los Cabos, Mexico for the 2012 G20 Summit; the first such summit to occur in Latin America. Food security will be one of the major themes on the agenda at this high-level meeting.
