White Ribbon Alliance: Women’s and children’s health high on agenda at 126th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union
31 MARCH - 5 APRIL 2012 | KAMPALA, UGANDA — Nearly 650 members of parliament from more than 120 countries around the world have come together for the 126th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly this week in Kampala, Uganda. The Assembly’s theme this year is “Parliaments and People: Bridging the Gap“—and the health of women and children is high on the agenda.
PMNCH member White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) is reporting direct from the Assembly on the progress of the IPU resolution “Access to Health as a Basic Right: The Role of Parliaments in Addressing Key Challenges to Securing the Health of Women and Children”. WRA will be gathering statements of support from parliamentarians, interviewing key figures and raising the voices of citizens—along with providing daily updates to national and global media, direct from their “Citizens’ News” studio in Kampala.
