“Women Deliver 50” casts spotlight on ideas and solutions improving the lives of girls and women

7 MARCH 2012 | NEW YORK – In the lead up to International Women’s Day, PMNCH member Women Deliver announced the winners of its annual “Women Deliver 50” list, a compilation of the 50 most inspiring ideas and solutions that are delivering for girls and women across the globe. The initiatives, which range from grassroots to global, are led by social entrepreneurs, civil society, governments, international agencies and private companies.

A number of PMNCH member organizations were recognized for their efforts bettering the lives of women and girls around the world, including:

  • Every Woman, Every Child Initiative: The Office of the United Nations Secretary-General

  • Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) Initiative: American Academy of Pediatrics with WHO, USAID, Saving Newborn Lives, the National Institute of Child Health and Development, and others

  • Prioritizing Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccines:GAVI Alliance

  • Initiative: Reaching the Survivors of Coerced Marriages and Violence in Pakistan: International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) with the Rahnuma Family Planning Association of Pakistan

  • Addressing Postpartum Hemorrhage in Afghanistan and Nepal: Jhpiego

  • Woman’s Condoms: Organization: PATH

  • Mobile for Reproductive Health (m4RH): United States Agency for International Development (USAID), with FHI 360
