PMNCH Task Team on Financing for RMNCH meets in London

The PMNCH Task Team on Financing for RMNCH was formed to provide strategic advice to the PMNCH Board on financing options for reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) in order to advance the agenda in support of effective and efficient global and national financing for RMNCH. The Task Team is co-chaired by Cristian Baeza, World Bank; and Ann Starrs, Family Care International. The other members are Anthony Costello, Centre for International Health and Development; James Droop, DFID; Anuradha Gupta, Government of India; Anders Nordstrom, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sweden; and Neema Rusibamayila, Government of Tanzania.
The first meeting of the Task Team was held at DFID in London on Feb 2, 2012. The objectives of the meeting were to discuss in more detail the options presented in the PMNCH-commissioned report developed by SEEK Development, identify key principles/characteristics of effective global funding mechanisms, get an overview of planned efforts key players, and strategize on the role PMNCH and the Task Team should play in advancing and supporting current efforts, and how to use the Task Team report and other steps in this context. The report of the Task Team is expected to be submitted to the PMNCH Board by the end of March 2012, for further discussion at the PMNCH Board meeting in May 2012.
