136th WHO Executive Board session

26 JANUARY 2015 | GENEVA, SWITZERLAND

The WHO Executive Board's 136th session will take place in Geneva from 26 January–3 February 2015. The meeting will agree the agenda for the May 2015 World Health Assembly and adopt resolutions to be forwarded to the Assembly. Board Members will discuss priority issues in the areas of communicable and noncommunicable diseases; promoting health through the life course; preparedness, surveillance and response; and health system among other things.


Donors pledge record $7.5B to reach every child with vaccines

27 JANUARY 2015 | BERLIN, GERMANY

A high-level event hosted by the German Governments and private donors vowed greater support for the global vaccines program by committing a record $7.5B during Gavi's Pledging Conference in Berlin. The high-level event which was hosted by the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel marked the culmination of the Vaccine Alliance’s second replenishment for 2016 – 2020 and was a rousing success. The funds will help to immunize an additional 300 million children against preventable disease.
