Global Investment Framework for Women’s and Children’s Health: Study Group meeting, high-level event, reception and dinner
13-14 JUNE 2013 | VENICE, ITALY
The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health, the World Health Organization and the University of Washington are hosting a two-day meeting of the Study Group of the Global Investment Framework for Women’s and Children’s Health. The purpose of the meeting is to review the conceptual framework, methods and preliminary results of the ongoing analytical work and seek strategic guidance on how to take the investment framework forward.
A number of partners, coordinated by PMNCH, WHO and the University of Washington, have responded to the recommendation of the independent Expert Review Group on Information and Accountability for Women's and Children's Health in its 2012 report to develop “a global investment framework, taking account of national investments and allocations, to guide a more targeted and strategic approach to supporting women’s and children’s health.”
The framework makes the case for increased and better focused investment, seeks to position remaining challenges on the post-2015 agenda, and aims to strengthen alignment and accountability for results and resources. The investment framework will be launched in September 2013 and disseminated through a journal article, policy briefs, a report and consultations with governments and partners to maximize benefits to countries and regions.
