Third Global Forum on Human Resources for Health
10-13 NOVEMBER 2013 | RECIFE, BRAZIL
Since 2008, the Global Health Workforce Alliance has been convening Global Forums on Human Resources for Health, bringing together a host of human resources for health (HRH) stakeholders, to find solutions to the HRH crisis. The First Global Forum (Uganda, 2008) resulted in the development of a global HRH roadmap (Kampala Declaration and the Agenda for Global Action); at the Second Global Forum (Thailand, 2011), countries and stakeholders reconvened to review progress and renew their commitments towards increased investment, sustained leadership and the adoption of effective HRH policies.
The Global Health Workforce Alliance is hosting the Third Global Forum on Human Resources for Health in Recife, Brazil, under the patronage of the Government of Brazil, the World Health Organization (WHO) and Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). The chosen theme of the forum is: Human resources for health: Foundation for universal health coverage and the post-2015 development agenda.
More than 1500 participants, including heads of state, representatives from ministries of health and finance, leading civil society organisations, international HRH experts, health workers, researchers and policy makers are expected to come together to examine how to build a foundation for universal health coverage through strengthening the health workforce.
