We are pleased to share with you the outcomes/next steps that emerged from the MNCH advocacy consultation that was convened by the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (PMNCH), Family Care International, and Norad and hosted by Save the Children in London on September 14.
The consultation was held to gain input and agreement on the implementation plan for the Partnership’s advocacy strategy.
The consultation notes are attached, including an opening section that summarizes the key outcomes.
At the consultation on Sept. 14, “task teams” were established to take the MNCH advocacy agenda forward by working throughout the next 12-18 months toward effective MNCH advocacy linked to specific events and work products. The Task Teams are listed below, and are outlined more fully in the attached document. Please let Lori McDougall at the PMNCH Secretariat () know if you would like to join a Task Team.
The Task Teams are:
- Task Team 1: 2010 G8 and G20
- Task Team 2: 2010 UN General Assembly
- Task Team 3: MNCH Consensus and Framework
- Task Team 4: Regional/Local Advocacy
During the remainder of this year, we will continue to gather information from MNCH stakeholders on current advocacy strategies, messages, key opportunities for advocacy, and capacity building needs for civil society partners at the country level.
