In December 2011, PMNCH with World Health Organization, Aga Khan University and 14 partners shared the first ever consensus and evidence-based list in a report called: Essential Interventions, Commodities and Guidelines for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCH).

This document was the culmination of three years of research. Its aim is to support policy makers and RMNCH advocates and program implementers in the development of guidelines, policies and programs to improve the health of women and children. The document provides information on key selected RMNC survival interventions that should be made available to women and children, as well as information on the type of professional health worker required for their delivery, key commodities required; and corresponding available guidelines

On this page of the website, find special supporting documents which can be used by partners and health professionals in education and advocacy initiatives for sharing the Essential Interventions. They include:

  • A four page Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
  • A PowerPoint presentation and
  • A poster, all available in English, French and Spanish

These supporting documents should be used as tools to facilitate communication on and advocacy around the Essential Interventions, Commodities and Guidelines for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health. Should you need the presentation in the original Powerpoint format or higher resolution files, please send a request to pmnch@who.int.

We hope that this set of materials provides partners with the resources necessary to contribute to efforts to scale up coverage of key interventions to save lives and improve the health of women and children.
