New resource: Briefing card on the Maputo Plan of Action
The African Union adopted the Maputo Plan of Action in 2006 to work towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals. The plan embraced the Cairo Programme of Action and moved sexual and reproductive health higher on Africa's political priority agenda. Over the past three years African nations have taken a major step forward in developing country-level plans for achieving the targets of the Maputo Plan. The challenge is now implementation. Women Deliver, along with an ad hoc group of international organizations who make up the Support Group for the Maputo Plan of Action, created a briefing card to focus international attention on the Maputo Plan, to advocate for increased funding, and to track progress to date and the steps needed to achieve the goals.
