Country Support Working Group (CSWG) in Tanzania
Members of the CSWG made a visit to Tanzania in November 2007 to identify opportunities and next steps for the development of the One MNCH Plan.
The Technical Consultation on the Way Forward for MNCH in Tanzania identified the development of a One MNCH Plan as the most crucial next step. This One MNCH Plan was to consist of the expansion of the exiting Roadmap for the Reduction of Maternal and Newborn Mortality and Morbidity to include child health. The provision of two national consultants by UNICEF and WHO and one international consultant by the Partnership were key supporting actions. Drafting of the One MNCH Plan is well under way.
The visit of the CSWG team had as a main purpose the determination of ways to maximize use of present resources, and opportunities such as the MBB being currently conducted in Tanzania to influence the One MNCH Plan and how to make the One MNCH plan development process even more rigorous. Another important purpose of the visit was technical and consisted in working with the in country team to finalize the existing draft. The group was joined by a team of experts from WHO regional offices and headquarters.
