Community ear and hearing health
Deafness and hearing impairment have been neglected in the public health field even though they form one of the commonest disabilities and contribute significantly to the global burden of disease. Therefore, it is essential to increase awareness everywhere - amongst opinion formers, decision makers, community leaders, parents, teachers and health professionals.
The World Health Organization has helped start a journal Community Ear and Hearing Health to increase awareness, knowledge and skill amongst primary health care and other health workers in this field. The journal focuses on the situation and needs in developing countries and deals with prevention, management and rehabilitation of ear and hearing disorders.
