APPS Web-Based Registration Mechanism Open
African Partnerships for Patient Safety (APPS) has launched a web-based registration mechanism for hospital-to-hospital partnerships. Organizations not currently working in partnership but who are committed to patient safety improvement can also register.
The new mechanism allows two different categories of registration: APPS Implementer and APPS Community Member
Registration allows access to the APPS online community where experience and lessons are shared and thematic patient safety discussions held. All registrants receive the APPS Quarterly Newsletter.
WHO SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands global campaign
For the fifth year, on and around 5 May, the WHO SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands campaign invites health-care facilities to celebrate hand hygiene promotion in health care. More than 15 700 health-care facilities from 168 countries worldwide are participating in this global campaign. SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands draws global attention to the importance of hand hygiene to prevent the harm caused by health care-associated infections.
This year WHO invites health-care facilities to take action on implementing and strengthening patient participation in hand hygiene promotion and continued monitoring and feedback of hand hygiene practices.
Safe Childbirth Checklist Collaboration
WHO is pleased to announce the launch of the Safe Childbirth Checklist Collaboration. The Collaboration aims to bring together a group of institutions and other interested partners to explore implementation and usability of the Safe Childbirth Checklist, in a range of different contexts.
WHO invites health-care, research or academic institutions and others who are interested in improving maternal and child health, to participate in the Collaboration and contribute to knowledge generation on the most effective ways of using the Checklist.
Patient Safety Research: A guide for developing training programmes
WHO Patient Safety is launching the first edition of “Patient Safety Research: A guide for developing training programmes”, a comprehensive document that provides guidance to educators for the development of training programmes in the field of patient safety research. This guide was developed through an extensive consultation with key international experts in education and training.
The guide attempts to address the limited capacity in patient safety research and research translation worldwide by helping to develop leaders in patient safety improvement and change management through measurement and research.
