Oral health and World No Tobacco Day 2005

Tobacco induced oral diseases contribute significantly to the global oral disease burden. The WHO Global Oral Health Programme contributes in several ways to the implementation of the WHO Framework Convention for Tobacco Control and the activities of the WHO Tobacco Free Initiative.

The World No Tobacco Day on 31 May 2005 is dedicated to the role of health professionals in tobacco control. This is the WHO Tobacco or Health fact sheet which may be a helpful source of information for health professionals and the general public. Jointly with the FDI, the WHO Global Oral Health Programme is carrying out a global campaign encouraging health professionals to participate in tobacco prevention activities.
