Speakers will disseminate the recent WHO recommendations using this methodology, and examples of how some Latin American countries have participated in the process.

The objectives of this symposium are to:

  • Present the procedures followed by the World Health Organization to develop global guidelines on nutrition interventions taking into account current scientific evidence.
  • Present the latest WHO recommendations for effective nutrition interventions in the context of maternal and child health.
  • Discuss the mechanisms and tools available for use by Member States and their partners in the adaptation and adoption of public health guidelines using the evidence and considering country's context.
  • Share experiences from three countries in Latin America in the development of nutrition policies and programmes using WHO global guidelines.
