Eighth Meeting of the Global Collaboration for the Development of Pesticides for Public Health (GCDPP)

The theme of the meeting is "Dengue Vector Surveillance and Management". Participants will review evidence on interventions, discuss innovative technologies, review Integrated Vector Management approach to dengue and identify the role of partners in dengue control.
Dengue Strategic Planning Meeting

Date: 22–24 February 2012
The primary goal is the development of a new global strategy for dengue prevention and control based on the experience of all the regional and country plans. Participants are also expected to finalize a 'WHO Strategy for dengue prevention and control' and develop a 'Framework for Action 2012 - 2020.
Yaws elimination
Venue: Romantik Hôtel Mont-Blanc, Morges, Switzerland
Date: 5–7 March 2012
A recent finding that a single-dose azithromycin is as effective as a single-injection of benzathine penicillin in the treatment of yaws provides a huge possibility to eliminate yaws. This new finding overcomes the limitations of using antibiotic injections in mass treatment. In this context, WHO is convening a technical meeting of experts to review the evidence and to define the way forward for yaws elimination.
16th National Dracunculiasis Eradication Programme Managers' Meeting
Venue: Addis Ababa

Some 50 participants, including guinea-worm national programme managers and partners will examine progress made and coordinate interventions and resource allocation to endemic and pre-certification countries.
