Dr Abdulhakim Al-Kuhlani
Dr Al-Kuhlani is Director-General for Disease Control and Surveillance in Yemen.
Dr Al-Kuhlani graduated from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans in 1993 and served in the public health service for more than 20 years, with a focus on neglected tropical diseases.
Dr Al-Kuhlani was the national coordinator for guinea-worm eradication programme (1994-1998) until Yemen was certified free. He also served as a member of the International Commission for the Certification of Dracunculiasis Eradication (ICCDE) and represented Yemen in the Gulf State Council for Disease Control.
Currently Dr Al-Kuhlani manages 3 ambitious Yemeni government projects aimed at eliminating schistosomiasis, intestinal worms and trachoma.
