Professor Peter Holmes
Prof. Peter Holmes Pro-Vice-Principal at the University of Glasgow has over forty years experience of veterinary and medical research and education in the UK and Africa.
He has collaborated with a large number of international institutions, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa. His specialist areas are parasitic diseases of animals and humans. Much of his research is interdisciplinary and encompasses physiology, nutrition, pathology, immunology and chemotherapy.
Prof. Holmes has served on numerous national and international committees. He was founding chair of the Programme Against African Trypanosomiasis, a joint FAO/WHO/IAEA/AU-IBAR Expert committee on Trypanosomiasis from 1997 – 2002.
He is currently chair of WHO’s Strategic Technical Advisory Group (STAG) for Neglected Tropical Diseases.
