Mental disorders

Mental disorders comprise a broad range of problems, with different symptoms. However, they are generally characterized by some combination of abnormal thoughts, emotions, behaviour and relationships with others. Examples are schizophrenia, depression, intellectual disabilities and disorders due to drug abuse. Most of these disorders can be successfully treated.

Policy options on mental health: a WHO-Gulbenkian Mental Health Platform collaboration

This is the final report of the six-year collaboration between the WHO Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse and the Gulbenkian Global Mental Health Platform. It identifies 32 policy options to promote and strengthen the implementation of the WHO MHAP.
