Affordable access to quality medicines and medical devices is critical for functioning health systems and fundamental for obtaining universal health coverage.
WHO supports countries to formulate evidence-based policies and ensure good practice and good governance throughout the supply chain from selecting the right products to using them correctly. We address access to medicines and medical devices for current and emerging health priorities such as anti-microbial resistance and non-communicable diseases; and develop tools to assess situations and monitor and measure progress on access to quality health products by people and their communities.
