1st World Congress on Healthy Ageing

The theme of the 1st World Congress on Healthy Ageing 2012 is "Evolution: Holistic Ageing in an Age of Change". It is a global forum that will encompass all aspects of health issues – prevention and management, the latest medical research and healthy ageing protocols – in both mainstream and complementary and alternative medicines. Healthy ageing is approached from many aspects including societal/policy level approaches, physical, emotional and psychological as well as spiritual.
Healthy ageing is one of the major challenges for the world. Unless societies adapt, the demographic transition will have a tremendous impact on their economies, health, social development and welfare systems. Consequently, there is a need to enhance knowledge about the promotion of good health across the life course to foster healthy and active ageing.
This Congress is co-sponsored by WHO and the Malaysian Healthy Ageing Society (MHAS).
