WHO GOVERNANCE EVENTS

  • World Health Assembly
    The World Health Assembly is the supreme decision-making body of WHO, attended by delegations from all Member States. It meets in Geneva in May each year.
  • Executive Board
    The main functions of the Executive Board are to implement the decisions and policies of the World Health Assembly, and advise and generally to facilitate its work.
  • Regional Committees
    WHO Regional Committees meet annually to set policy and approve budgets and programmes of work for each of the six WHO regions.

Election of Director-General – 2012

The World Health Assembly appointed Dr Margaret Chan for a second five-year term as Director-General of WHO at its sixty-fifth session in May 2012. Dr Chan's new term will begin on 1 July 2012 and continue until 30 June 2017.
