Policy setting for vector control

There are two main advisory bodies addressing policy topics related to malaria vector control:

     – The Vector Control Advisory Group (VCAG) on new tools evaluates “proof of principle” regarding new tools, approaches and technologies for vector control. VCAG reports to both the WHO Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases and the WHO Global Malaria Programme.

     – The Technical Expert Group on Malaria Vector Control (VCTEG) was set up by the WHO Global Malaria Programme on the recommendation of the Malaria Policy Advisory Committee. It addresses broader gaps in the implementation of policies for malaria vector control; in particular, it focuses on technical guidance for malaria vector-control programmes.

Temporary advisory bodies are also established as needed. Evidence review groups are groups of experts that are convened for a limited time period to review a specific area of work, and to provide evidence-based information and options for recommendations.
