WHO Asian Civil Society Conference on Macroeconomics and Health

April 2004 -- The WHO Asian Civil Society Conference on Macroeconomics and Health, held in Sri Lanka on 27-28 April 2004, examined how civil society organizations could contribute to improving the health of the poor in their respective countries within a macroeconomics framework.

Consultation on Increasing Investments in Health Outcomes for the Poor

October 2003 -- The “Global Consultation on Increasing Investments in Health Outcomes for the Poor” took place from 28-30 October 2003 at the World Health Organization Headquarters in Geneva, with substantive contribution from WHO Regional and Country Offices and support from the Gates Foundation.

Launch of the CMH Report
On 20 December 2001, WHO’s CMH Report was launched globally and presented its groundbreaking findings that investment in global health would save 8 million lives a year and generate at least $360 billion annual gain within 15 years. The former WHO Director-General, CMH Chair Jeffrey Sachs and rock star Bono participated in the launch of the Report.
