Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)

Vaccine

Vaccination against Hib is recommended for all children over 6 weeks and up to 2 years of age. Infants should receive a primary series of three doses, whereas one dose is sufficient in previously unvaccinated children aged 12 months or more. The vaccine is often given as a combined preparation with one or more other vaccines, such as DTP, hepatitis B vaccine or IPV, in routine immunization programmes.
